The Spirit-CHA hosted holiday party for local families

Dozens of Chester children and their families attended a holiday party on Friday evening (Dec. 19) hosted by the Chester Housing Authority (CHA). The event, held at the Booker T. Washington Entrepreneur and Innovation Center on Central Ave., featured snacks, beverages, and an abundance of toys.

Santa Claus was there to greet children and gifts were distributed to each child, compliments of St. Luke’s Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall, and Bountiful Blessings.

Organized by CHA Director of Administration Quineice Harris and a team of volunteers, the evening could not have turned out more perfect. “We wanted to do something for the children of Chester,” Harris said. “In addition to toys, parents were given gift cards, pictures were taken with Santa Claus, and hats and scarves were distributed as well as children’s books. In this season of giving, it is wonderful to be able to share joy.”

As families approached the center, they were greeted with a festive outdoor display of holiday inflatables. Once inside, the hall was decorated and tables with toys, hats, scarves, and gloves lined the room.

Seasonal characters and officials welcomed dozens of Chester children to the CHA holiday party including (from left) Lou DeMarco (the Grinch), CHA Director Mary Milltello, Wilbert Jarrett, Sr. (Santa), Tina Johnson (elf) and CHA Administrative Director Quineice Harris.

A large sleigh was set up in the center of the room for pictures with Santa and volunteers were dressed as popular characters including The Grinch.
